Plastic pollution: solving the problem at the source
In France, 8,7 billion liters of water sold in plastic bottles are consumed each year. These bottles are now part of the top 10 waste that pollutes rivers and oceans the most.
It's still easier to refill your water bottle, isn't it?
Acting is no longer an option. The good news is that everyone has the power to fight the throwaway. How ? By consuming tap water, every day, at home and outside, always traveling with a water bottle: a gesture as simple as it is essential!
A simple and generous idea
What if, to fill your bottle with free tap water, you just had to push the door of a café-restaurant, a hairdresser or a clothing store? This is the idea of "Here, I choose Paris water", a device that complements the network of 1 fountains and water points already available at any time and throughout the city.

Here, I choose the water of Paris
Hi Brut, this is Camille from Girl Go Green. Maybe you've seen this sticker more and more in the shops of your merchants, and today we're going to meet one of the first chefs to have installed it to tell us about it.
Hello Alessandra. Hello Camille. Could you introduce yourself in a few words for Brut? Hello, my name is Alessandra Montagne, I am the chef of the Nosso restaurant in Paris in the 13th arrondissement.
Alessandra Montagne is part of the Parisian network of businesses committed to the fight against single-use plastic by providing free access to tap water in her restaurant.
People pass by, they're thirsty, they have a water bottle, we're not going to say no to someone who asks for a drink of water, that doesn't exist, so we fill the water bottle, he goes with it, c 'is great.
You think that traders, you have a role to play as traders with the public.
Of course, I don't see a trader refusing such a thing. We merchants, we are very, very important players in this transition because we receive a lot of people, we have a lot of passage in front of the shops, in front of the restaurants, we have a lot of people passing by, if they have a bottle, if these 200 people a day take a bottle, fill it, imagine at the end of the year how many fewer bottles will end up in the oceans? So obviously we have a very important role.
This initiative was launched by Eau de Paris, a public water company in Paris.
Dan Lert, President of Eau de Paris: Every Parisian and every Parisian will be able to fill their water bottle in the shops and restaurants that are partners of our operation "Here I choose Paris water" and we want to make this gesture a gesture as well natural than filling your water bottle at home or in a fountain in the public space. We obviously aim to phase out single-use plastic in Paris by 2024. Each year in France, 8,4 billion liters of water are bottled and consumed and only one in two bottles is recycled.
Alessandra I brought my water bottle which is empty, suddenly, to do a test. If we imagine that I am an average customer who passes in the street and who sees the sticker, can I come and just give you my water bottle like that? But of course, with pleasure. Great, thank you very much, see you soon! Goodbye !

Sell water? In the 20th century, it could still happen, in the 21st century, it's a little more complicated… So, we might as well embrace the century and move towards more responsible consumption.
A big thank you to the 500 businesses that have already joined our network!
And you, what would you say to also choose the water of Paris?
In 2022, for us, for the planet, let's choose Paris water.
